Some History
I play guitar, and started doing this in 1999, while I was a senior in High School. I also sing, write songs, and occasionally, but not recently, write poetry. I decided to start out with guitar because my father gave me his old one, and I broke it on accident. I felt really bad so as some sort of consolation, I saved my money and eventually bought another one, a Washburn acoustic/electric. It was used, but had a good sound. I promised myself that I would learn the instrument because of the incident with the guitar my father gave me. As far as singing goes, I have never really thought of myself as a vocalist in any respect, and didn't expect that I would be singing with Demeri Followed until I was kind of forced into the position. I guess I don't mind all that much, although my stage fright takes its toll on my weak nerves. My goal with making music is to reach other people who can relate to the feelings I try to reproduce through the sounds.

Sigur Rós is amazing; whenever I listen to them, I temporarily reclaim them as my most favorite band. The only problem is I don't know Icelandic, but it's no big deal They don't even use real words in some of their songs. It's the emotion they generate with their music that I like. |

Built to Spill, led by Doug Martsch, is an original sounding band whose efforts don't go unnoticed, although it's doubtful that they even have to try very hard to be creative. Martsch has a cool and strange type of voice. I wonder if he has always sung like that or if he does it to be interesting. |

Bright Eyes. Proceed to enjoy this music with caution, because if you are not already depressed, this spirit diminishing music will help you get there. Even if you can't relate to the experiences of Bright Eyes' singer/songwriter, Connor Oberst, after listening for a while, you might start to think the songs are based on your own forgotten past-times. Bright Eyes makes me sick with admiration, and you could be too. To get you started, I recommend the song, 'A Poetic Retelling of an Unfortunate Seduction' from the album, 'Letting Off the Happiness'. |

Chokebore cannot be easily categorized. They're from Hawaii, but moved to Los Angeles, California to promote their music (original band name was Dana Lynn) At first, this band will seem intolerably downcast, but just stick with it for a while. I learned from experience that if you are feeling sick and nauseous, then it is not an ideal time to listen to their 'Black Black' album. Chokebore is an acquired taste; don't expect immediate gratification. |
Favorite TV Shows
 |
The Simpsons is a funny show that I try to watch whenever I notice it's on. Some funny episodes that I would recommend are 'Homer's Phobia' [4F11] and 'E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)' [AABF19]. I noticed the other day, that on the episode when Homer hired a private investigator to find information on Lisa, so that he could convince her that he cares about knowing who she is, Homer said his e-mail address is 'ChunkyLover53@aol.com' I tried emailing him, but with no reply :( |

The Family Guy is hilariously random. Most episodes are good enough to make me laugh out loud, which says a lot for a television show. I used to watch it all the time on Adult Swim, but then when I no longer had cable, I missed out on this great show for a while. But of course, because Peter Griffin loves me so much, the show was stopped in my absence, and then when I was able to afford cable TV again, the show returned triumphantly. Thanks Family Guy! |

Boston Legal is a new favorite of mine, and so far it looks promising. I'm not usually interested in shows about the legal system, but this one balances drama, comedy, and sex appeal, very nicely. It's interesting, realistic, and witty. I look forward to watching this whenever it's coming on. |

Fox's medical show, House, is about a cripple named Dr. Gregory House, who can read people very well, and is the best and the worst doctor for the same reason - his pride. He doesn't like to trust anyone other than himself, his chance realizations, and science. Most of all, he doesn't trust his patients, and he is constantly offending them which is both disturbing and comical, but he is never terminated for his highly unorthodox practices because although there is often probable cause for consequential reprocussion, he so happens to be the best doctor at the hospital. In summary, it's an addictive show that I encourage you to watch. |
My Life
Well, I was born on June 27th in a small town in Northwest Alabama, called Tuscumbia. My father's name is Arthur, and my mother's is Kate. My mom is a lot younger than my dad, almost twenty years difference. My dad was a very loyal southerner, and was proud to serve in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. My house growing up wasn't the most comfortable or physically appealing one, but it worked for us. It was a plain white clapboard house that my grandparents built back in the 20's. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my dad worked as an editor for a weekly newspaper called the "North Alabamian", but of course, he didn't make a very good living with that kind of job, even though with the long hours, one might expect that we were always well fed. My dad also owned a cotton plantation, where he and my mom would both work. It was nice to grow up with farm animals, because that way we were able to make our own butter, lard, and on the special occasion, we even killed one of the pigs and had ourselves some bacon for breakfast, and then ham for lunch and supper. The part of my story that you would have never guessed is that when I was only about a year and a half old, I fell very ill with fever, and the doctors expected that I wouldn't live to see my second birthday, because there was nothing that they could do to help me. But guess what? I'm alive and well, and the only thing that separates me from any other intelligent person is that I happen to be blind and deaf, but that's never stopped me. Oh wait, that's Helen Keller's life.
